“Get out!” she yelled with a frying pan just missing his head. Chasing him out of the house she yelled, “And never come back!”
“Sophie!”
“Coming Mom!” I called back as I grabbed my backpack and ran down the stairs, “Bye love you!” I kissed her lightly on the cheek and ran out to the bus, just making it. I sat on the bus and pulled out my notebook.
‘Sophie Raven here, but you can call me RoxKat. Last we left off our hero had just found the damsel and he was about to rescue her when he was attacked by a sea monster. “Rawr!!!” it roared, as it protected the kingdom of body, also known as lunch. It laughed as the hero fell into his trap, “You will never defeat me!!”
‘Just then
“HEY!” someone snatched my book from my hand.
I looked up to see Zeakk holding it as he read, “You still writing about your heros?” he threw it at me and it hurt, “There are no heros you idiot.”
“How do you know?!” I snapped, “There are hero’s everywhere just open your eyes and you’ll see them.”
“The Zeakk man doesn’t care. Just toss the story away and wake up,” he said as he patted me hard on the head as we pulled into school.
Zeakk is a real jerk but I swear he has bipolar or something cause sometimes when I see him it’s like he doesn’t know I’m there. He will just pass by in the hall and not say a word but other times he has to say something. I only see that side of him after he has gym and in 7th period. It’s really odd if you ask me. Oh and I think he brings a change of clothes to school for after gym, he’s always wearing something else until we get on the bus. Minus the annoying behavior I think he’s a pretty nice guy, well in 7th period at least.
“I’m home!!” I called as I slid off my flats and practically danced in to the kitchen, where Mom was making cookies. “Hi Mommy.”
“Hello dear, how was school?”
“Just the same I guess,” I leaned back on the stool while holding the counter, “I got homework, passed my tests, failed gym, and got picked on by that annoying boy again.”
She pulled the sheet from the oven and put it on a cooling rack. “Have you told a teacher about this yet?”
“Yes, and she talked to him, but he claimed he has no idea who I am.”
“You must not let yourself be bullied, Sophia.”
“I know Mommy, but he just acts so different then on the bus.”
“I don’t know what to say but I should call the school again.”
I sighed, more drama. “Anyways!” I jumped down and turned away grabbing my bag, “I’ll be doing homework.”
“Sophie,” Mom said stern and I turned to see her looking at me with a face I knew too well. She held out her hand and I sighed. Reaching into my bag I pulled out my story book and handed it to her. “Okay, show me when you’re done.”
“Yes Mom,” I ran upstairs to get the school work done so I could write.
“You’re late, Mr. Nakayama,” I looked up to Mrs. Smith addressing Zeakk as he walked in the classroom. “You will be punished for this you know,” he just nodded and took it. He walked back to his seat with the dentation slip and sat there like he wasn’t there. “Anyway, 3ax…”
“He’s so quite that you never know that he’s here and he walks in the same way…”
“What a loser.”
The girls beside me whispered and I was pretty sure he could to. Serves him right for picking on me.
‘Mr. Muffin!” the princess called to her bear, ‘Is there any sign of my hero?” ‘Nope, nope,” the bear responded and it bounced back to the chores. ‘Sigh, when will he come back to me? I must thank him.’ Just then a noise came from the tower window and there was a troll. The princess screamed and-‘
“Again?” Zeakk took my book.
“Give it back you jerk!!” I jumped up to get it. I was only 5’4” and he was 5’10” and I was too small to get it back. I stopped, “Wait you were supposed to be in detention today?”
“And I care, I’ll pass cause I can,” he tossed my note book in the mud and walked away.
“You are such a jerk!!” I shouted after him, as he got on the bus. Picking it up I went to where Dad sat in the parking lot.
I hate Zeakk, he’s just a bullie and a brat. I wish I had a hero like Princess Kat, I would have him knock Zeakk out and keep doing that until he never bothers me again. Hahahaha, man that would be awesome. I would name him Hero Mal the cutest boy in all the land. All the girls would be flocking over him but the only person that he would see would be me. I’d have a hero all to myself. Aww what a life it would be.
We hit a bump on the road and I woke up with a jolt. Looking around I could see that we passed my stop cause Zeakk wasn’t in front of me. “Hey!” I ran up to the front of the emptied bus, “We missed my stop.”
“Sorry kiddo,” the ageing man kept on driving.
“We gotta go back!”
He smiled, “We will. Just sit down and don’t worry. I got one more stop and I’ll take you right to your doorstep.” He stopped practically at the edge of town.
“One more stop the bus-“ I was cut off as he opened the door and a boy walked up from the back of the bus. He handed the driver some money and with his backpack in hand he stepped off. “What there’s a stop all they way out here?”
“Strange huh?” he turn around and headed back down the road to the city. “I saw him walking the streets like last year and I offered him a ride so he wouldn’t be late for school. The kid doesn’t say much but he seems nice enough. He likes his hoods though and covering his face.”
“And the money?”
“He said that if I drive him out here he’d give gas money. What a strange kid.”
“Hummm…” There are no houses out this way I wander why he gets off here. Work? A gang thing? I don’t know but I kinda wanna find out. But… just who is he?”
Like a week later I was visting my grandma for the weekend and I wanted to explore the shopping district. My parents said we were leaving and I demanded that they let me walk home alone. After a hour of argueing they gave me a mace can and a cell phone for protection. Grabbing a umbrella I started walking.
It was better to walk in the sunshine then in the pouring rain. I was about to call my parents to come and pick me up when I looked down an ally way. There sat a boy on his heels with his head down on his crossed wet sleeves. There was a backpack beside him and he was soaked. Feeling bad for him I walked back and put my umbrella over him. I just he felt the rain stop hitting him and he looked up. Then I regretted helping him keep dry.
“Sophie!”
